CATALYST
CATALYST is a talent development programme, established to ensure that the ethnicity, gender, disability and socio-economic background of the next generation of leading designers and arts administrators is diverse.
The CATALYST programme employs outstanding emerging artists, whose identities have historically been and are currently underrepresented in creative roles in the theatre industry, as assistants on Donmar productions. Mentored by highly skilled industry-leading creatives, CATALYST assistant designers receive bespoke training, both practical and observational, in Lighting design, Sound design, and Set and Costume design. On a bespoke basis, The Donmar will place 6-8 trainees in various roles across our productions every year.
CATALYST also supports year-long traineeships in the Donmar office, welcoming a range of voices and skills to work within the Development and Participation departments. Through this 12-month programme, we create bespoke experiences for emerging theatre administrators to receive mentorship and gain in-depth knowledge of their department's function, preparing them for an exciting career in the arts and theatre sector.
All CATALYST trainees receive company-wide investment in their professional development, mentoring and networking opportunities, and access to an active and vibrant alumni community.
