Felix Barrett

Director and Designer Felix Barrett MBE is the founder and Artistic Director of Punchdrunk, a company whose work is recognised internationally as pioneering game-changing ways for audiences to experience culture across theatre, TV, digital technology and gaming.

Felix has conceived, directed and designed all of Punchdrunk’s site-sympathetic shows, including: Viola’s Room, Sleep No More Seoul, The Burnt City, Sleep No More Shanghai, The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable, Sleep No More New York, The Crash Of The Elysium, The Duchess Of Malfi, It Felt Like A Kiss, The Masque Of The Red Death, Faust, and The Firebird Ball.

Additionally, Barrett worked as creative director on Shakira’s “The Sun Comes Out” global tour, and Mumford & Son’s "Delta" tour.

For TV, Felix created the BAFTA nominated The Third Day, a six-part TV drama and 12-hour theatrical broadcast for HBO & Sky Atlantic.

Felix most recently directed Lander23, a live-action video game currently playing at Punchdrunk’s home in Woolwich, as well as Viola’s Room which ran at The Shed in New York in 2025 after an original run in London in 2024.

Outside of Punchdrunk, his most recent directing work is Paranormal Activity, currently touring the US as well as playing in London’s West End after premiering at Leeds Playhouse in 2024. He also directed Luna Luna at The Shed New York in 2024.

Felix was awarded an MBE in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to theatre.
