Leslie Travers

Award-winning designer Leslie Travers trained at Wimbledon School of Art and is now recognised as one of the leading stage designers of his generation. He was recently honoured by the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts by being made a Companion of LIPA (the institution's honorary doctorate).

Credits for the Donmar include: Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.

Leslie has been nominated for countless theatre awards‚ which have led to wins for Orfeo - Critics' Circle Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Opera; UK Theatre Award for Best Production (Opera North); Francesca da Rimini - Franco Abbiati Award for Best Set Design Italy 2019 (Teatro alla Scala); Werther - Prix de la critique Claude Rostand for Best Production in France (Opéra National de Lorraine); Grimes on the Beach - International Opera Award for Best Anniversary Production 2014; What's On Stage Opera Event of the Year (Aldeburgh Music); Otello - Manchester Theatre Award for Best Opera 2014 (Scottish Opera and Opera North); The Children's Crusade - Dora Mavor Moore Award for Best Opera Production 2010 (Luminato Festival, Toronto) and Vurt - Arthur Peter Design Award (Contact Theatre). He has also been nominated for International Opera Awards Designer of the Year four times during the award's 12-year history.
