Inspire the Next Generation

In our local boroughs of Camden and Westminster, many state schools are feeling financial pressures, and are turning to Donmar LOCAL as their main cultural partner.

Our free Donmar LOCAL programmes ignite a passion for theatre. They also support young people's personal, social, and creative growth.

We are grateful to our generous supporters. Because of them, we can provide all Donmar LOCAL activities for free. This ensures that every student has equal access to the arts.

Since 2022, we have reached over 17,000 young people through Donmar LOCAL including:

  • 10,836students saw a Schools’ Tour performance of Frankenstein, Macbeth or Henry V
  • 5,050students have attended a Donmar performance for free
  • 267students participated as theatre-makers in Take the Stage
  • 73students participated in our week-long work experience Pathways

We also invest in skills and training to open up pathways into the creative industry, making routes to employment clearer, more accessible and more inclusive.

The CATALYST Talent Development Programme empowers emerging artists and early-career theatre professionals through immersive, hands-on traineeships. Participants are mentored by industry leaders, gain unparalleled access to our work, and build skills, confidence, and professional networks.

Within CATALYST is our highly coveted, year-long Resident Assistant Director programme, which has produced industry leaders such as Josie Rourke, Rupert Goold and Lynette Linton.
