Access at the Donmar

  • The Donmar is wheelchair accessible. Please let the box office know about your requirements when booking.

  • We have three wheelchair spaces in the auditorium. There are two on the left side in rows C and D and one on the right side of the centre stalls in row D.

  • We also have additional aisle seats for anyone who requires one for access reasons. These are held back from public sale until seven days before the performance, please call the box office on 020 3282 3808 to book these seats.

  • Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome at the Donmar, and our staff are happy to dog-sit for you. If you would rather keep your dog with you during the show, please let us know when booking.

  • There is an infrared hearing system in the main auditorium. Please collect headsets from the box office. You will need to leave an item of ID (for example, a driving licence or bus pass) as a deposit, plus contact details.

  • There is an induction loop in the box office for hearing aid users, available on request.

  • We also provide a visual story for audience members on the autistic spectrum. They are designed to help prepare new visitors and familiarise them with their surroundings. Our visual story can be downloaded below.

Click our Access Guide below for more detailed information about access within the Donmar. Our Visual Story can also be downloaded below.

If you have any general enquiries or comments regarding your access requirements for your visit, please call 020 3282 3808 or email access@donmarwarehouse.com. We are always happy to hear from you.

Access Guide Visual Story

Audio-described and captioned performances

Audio-described performances

Audio-description, for people who are blind and partially sighted, is a live verbal commentary providing information on the visual elements (movement, expressions etc.) of the production as it unfolds.

If you book for an audio-described performance, you will receive in advance:

  • a CD from Vocaleyes providing details about the production

  • an invitation to participate in the pre-show touch tour

  • a large print/Braille version of the cast sheet (available on the day of the performance)

  • a large print version of the programme (available on request)

Captioned performances

Captioned performances are for people who are D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.

They are similar to subtitled television. The captions are prepared in advance, then a Stagetext captioner cues them live so that the text runs at the same speed as the actors on stage. Audience members who are using the captioning facilities are seated in an area so that the play and caption unit are in their complete field of vision.
