Audio-described performances
Audio-description, for people who are blind and partially sighted, is a live verbal commentary providing information on the visual elements (movement, expressions etc) of the production as it unfolds.
If you book for an audio-described performance, you will receive in advance:
- a CD from VocalEyes providing details about the production
- an invitation to participate in the pre-show touch tour
- a large print/Braille version of the cast sheet (available on the day of the performance)
- a large print version of the programme (available on request)

Captioned performances
Captioned performances are for people who are D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.
They are similar to subtitled television. The captions are prepared in advance, then a Stagetext captioner cues them live so that the text runs at the same speed as the actors on stage. Audience members who are using the captioning facilities are seated in an area so that the performance and caption unit are in their complete field of vision.
