Next Stage is our free masterclass programme for young people aged 16-18 considering a career in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering the Arts and Mathematics).
Across three half-day sessions, participants work with expert Donmar facilitators, actors, and alumni to build their confidence, resilience and practical communication skills. Through interactive exercises, mock interviews and group feedback, participants work on the skills that will set them apart, and get them ready for the move from school into further education and the workplace.
The programme complements the teaching we do at the AI Campus by giving students the language and the confidence to express themselves coherently
Next Stage draws on the Donmar's established masterclass programme, using performance-based techniques to unlock potential and prepare young people for an AI-driven world where human skills matter more than ever.
Each participant gains:
- Confidence and communication skills, highly valued by employers
- Practical experience in public speaking and presentation
- Stronger networking and relational skills, critical for professional and social success
- Interview training and techniques
- Creative group work, with opportunities for co-coaching
- A certificate of participation recognising their achievement
Who it's for:
Next Stage is open to young people aged 16–18 interested in studying or working in STEAM.
One of the many things I found useful about Next Stage was the breathing exercises which helped me control myself in uncomfortable situations such as public speaking which I’m not so comfortable in
The Next Stage pilot programme at the Donmar Warehouse was delivered in partnership with the London AI Campus and Working Options.
Next Stage is generously supported by Google.org.
