CHAIR OF THE BOARD
Adam Kenwright will retire as Chair of the Donmar Warehouse Board in December 2024 after four exceptional years. During his tenure, he led the theatre through significant changes including the appointment of new Artistic Director, Tim Sheader, in 2023. Adam successfully guided the organisation through its post-covid recovery and delivery of a sustainable, robust new business model; the theatre has gone from strength to strength both financially and creatively, with highly successful shows cementing the theatre’s position at the forefront of the UK theatre industry.
The Donmar are now seeking an outstanding candidate to build on this impressive legacy. The new Chair will work in partnership with the Artistic Director and Executive Director, supporting the setting and realisation of the Donmar's strategic, artistic and financial objectives. They will be crucial in shaping the theatre’s identity as an independent charity focused on quality and accessibility, appealing to diverse audiences, and producing exceptional work.
The Donmar's Chair of Trustees is responsible for guiding the theatre’s overall strategic direction, supporting the Chief Executives to deliver the charity’s mission and ensuring sound governance.
The Donmar Warehouse is partnering with Nurole, the leading board-level search specialist, to find a new Chair. You can find out more and apply here. To arrange an informal conversation or in case of any other queries, please contact joshua.dernie@nurole.com

Please note that feedback will only be provided for candidates taken through to the interview stage.
We believe that representation matters; diversity of identity, of perspective, of lived experience enriches our work and our lives. We recognise that the Donmar and the wider theatre industry is not representative of contemporary society in terms of workforce, artists and audience. We particularly encourage applications from those who are currently under-represented both at the Donmar and more widely in the industry, and specifically from D/deaf or disabled, or neurodivergent applicants and applicants who experience barriers and inequity due to ethnicity, gender identity and/or socio-economic background.
Where application numbers allow, all disabled candidates who demonstrate that they meet the minimum criteria will be invited for an interview*
*Please note that there may be occasions where it is not practicable or appropriate to interview all disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job. In certain recruitment situations such as high-volume we may limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people.
In these circumstances we will select the disabled candidates who best meet the minimum criteria for the job rather than all of those that meet the minimum criteria as we would do for non-disabled applicants.
We are an active member of PIPA and a Disability Confident employer.
