Over the past two years, director/dramaturg/researcher Zoë Svendsen has been embedded, as associate artist, at the Donmar Warehouse, to undertake research into the artistic and institutional mindsets that will enable the theatre industry as a sector. A complement to the practical online resource, the Theatre Green Book, this research explores the why, who with, and how of making theatre today in the context of climate crisis.
The project has developed the idea of ‘Climate Dramaturgy’. Climate Dramaturgy is a holistic approach to theatre-making that fosters artistic and creative practice in relation to recognising the context of climate crisis in relation to making theatre, across all aspects of theatres’ operations.
