Donmar Warehouse

DONMAR TOMORROW

This year marks 30 years since the Donmar was established as a producing house, under the artistic directorship of Sam Mendes. In our converted warehouse, we bring together audiences to witness world-class artists and rising stars create thrilling, unmissable theatre. Through our work, we strive to nurture the next generation of creative talent, providing young people and our local communities with opportunities to develop creative skills, inspiring the audiences and artists of the future.

In November 2022, Arts Council England announced the removal of the Donmar’s National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) status and consequent funding cut of around £500,000 per year. This is the first time since 2000 that we will not receive any government subsidy for our work, and while the Arts Council’s decision will not jeopardise our existence, it does mean that we will need additional support to ensure we can continue to serve our audiences and community.

While this decision has come at an already difficult time, the Donmar has always been a nimble and responsive organisation and we will continue to prioritise excellence and access as core values in all our work as we develop a refined strategy for 2024 and beyond. We will harness the same energy and innovative spirit that drove us through the pandemic to rise to this new challenge, working with our talented staff team, generous supporters, and family of world class artists.

How can I help?

Donmar Tomorrow is a special appeal where all funds raised will help to shape the future of the Donmar.

With your support, we will continue to create exceptional theatre with high production values, open up theatre to more people and nurture future generations of theatre makers,  broadening access to career opportunities in the arts.

Sustaining our future has never been so important.
