On 17 March 2020, we closed the Donmar Warehouse in response to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Our much-loved stage is now dark – something that has never happened since we opened the doors in 1992.
Since our closure, we have been committed to supporting our staff, artists and freelancers who rely on us, and creatively finding ways to bring our work and participation projects to our audiences and communities.
Now, as we move forward to reopening our doors, we need your support more than ever. We are currently undergoing major refurbishments which will make our space more accessible, with state of the art ventilation, improved environmental sustainability, and with more welcoming and inclusive front of house spaces. As a charity receiving only 7% of our income from public funding we now rely more than ever before on the generosity of supporters and audiences.
To date, the support of individual members, trusts, foundations and corporate partners has enabled us to deliver much loved productions and to work with thousands of young people and communities each year, to develop industry leading artists and to nurture the next generation of theatre lovers.
If you are able to, please consider supporting us at this important stage of reopening. We can’t wait to welcome you back, and want to ensure that our theatre is in the best possible shape when we are able to do so.
