On 17 March 2020, we closed the Donmar Warehouse in response to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Our much-loved stage is now dark – something that has never happened since we opened the doors in 1992.
Since our closure, we have been committed to continue supporting our staff, artists and freelancers who rely on us, and creatively finding ways to bring our work and participation projects to our audiences and communities.
As time goes by however, this becomes increasingly hard to do: as a charity receiving only 7% of our income from public funding, and with no ticket revenue for the foreseeable future, we now rely more than ever before on the generosity of supporters and audiences.
To-date, this support by individual members, trusts, foundations and corporate partners has enabled us to deliver much loved productions and to work with thousands of young people and communities each year, to develop industry leading artists and to nurture the next generation of theatre lovers.
If you are able to, please consider how you can support us at this time to ensure we can reopen in the best possible shape when it’s safe do so, while continuing to safeguard our staff and artists, and share our art form digitally in the meantime.
